AUTHOR'S NOTE: I wrote this one during a autumn storm and rereading Alicia's All the Saints in Heaven; needless to say that those two ingredients plus two cups of hot choco really got my writing juices flowing;) This one is Diamonde for showing me the best praise a poet could get.
Rain
by Riana
Deep within the night
lightning hurls
down shadows upon
the empty rooms,
eletricifying the darkness
like
a brilliant photograph negative
or a violent secret cast over a heart.
Rain beats down unyielding on the roof
in a unreleting fury or sorrow,
raging against recollected betrayal
or maybe mourning forgotten dreams
remembered.
Thunder roars in the sky
in dark pain
like the
memories forced
out of the bottomless depths of the unconscious
into
the searing light of thought.
She tries so hard to forget-
but with
each heartbeat comes a heartbreak
remembered in bittersweet pain.
Suddenly the rain stops.
She wakes
and brings her hand up to her
cheek and find tears
drying there as the rain stops outside.
Dreams
fall back into her head, fire blazes in her eyes.
In the distant dark,a
child's lullaby softly is sung by
a forgotten mother,
and snow falls
down, serene and still.
She does not wait for the morning to come
unsettled a little by the storm
or her sleep
she sees no reason to
remember as the storm dies away with the night again
back to the darkness.
